The AmberFreya Journey

How AmberFreya Was Born

My name is Gintarė, in English – Amber. That's where the first part of the name came from. As for the second part, let me tell you a bit more. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Health from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. I’ve always been curious about how the human mind and emotions work. Why do we make certain choices? It was important to me to understand the reason behind a particular symptom and how we could prevent it, rather than just addressing the consequence when we turn to medication. That’s why I pursued a master's degree in Veterinary Food Safety at the same university. But that wasn’t enough for me. I started attending seminars, workshops, and practicing various techniques where I worked with my emotional state and body. Currently, I’m participating in experiential mentoring courses, which are based on the principles of transpersonal psychology. During an amazing experiential retreat called “Antiego" I discovered Freya, which led to the creation of AmberFreya.

Journey into the World of Herbalism

Although I was born and raised in a big city, I spent my summers as a child at my grandmother’s village, where she highly valued herbs and grew them herself. She introduced me to various herbs, which she added to teas, infusions, and dishes. From an early age, she encouraged me to choose healthy, nature-given food, and it became an important part of my life. I always enjoyed escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and spending time in nature – picking berries directly from the bushes, eating them, and simply enjoying the sounds of nature. My journey into herbalism started then.

From a young age, I was drawn to creativity. I remember, as a child, I would search for various objects outdoors and carry a toolbox with me. I would try to create something out of them and show my parents, who praised me for my creativity, even though they probably didn’t understand what I had made. I was a child fascinated by everything and wanted to try as much as possible – I attended choir, dance, pottery, and various sports activities. I was attracted to the unexplainable, invisible things that might have scared others. In the evenings, I would go outside and watch the starry sky, mesmerized by its indescribable beauty. I always felt a stronger connection to the nighttime when the moon would appear, bringing with it secrets I longed to solve.

I’ve always been enchanted by life in the countryside, even though I was born and raised in the city. After leaving my parents’ home, I looked for a place where I could settle and have my own home. It just so happened that my husband and I found a wonderful spot – a village located in the Kazlų Rūda forest. When I began living here, I felt a strong urge to reconnect with herbalism. I wanted to grow my own vegetables and herbs, but I lacked knowledge – after all, I grew up in the city, and the summers spent in the village weren’t enough to learn everything I needed. Fortunately, my neighbor, who was knowledgeable in this field, took me under her wing. She had been growing flowers and collecting forest herbs since childhood and generously shared her knowledge with me. Everything unfolded like a fairy tale, as if life was leading me to people who could help me achieve my dreams. I remember my sister suggested we go to the Baltic Mythology Park to celebrate the Rasa festival. After reading that there would be a lecture about herbs and that we could tie our own herbal incense, I decided to join. There, I met two wonderful women who introduced me to the power and magic of herbs up close. They sparked my curiosity even more about the mysterious world of nature. When I returned home, I began collecting various herbs based on my intuition, both from the forest and my garden. I didn’t collect everything, as not all herbs called to me at that time. Everything takes time. I started diving deeper into the benefits of plants for the human body. I’m still expanding my knowledge, as there is never too much to learn. That’s how I created my first infusions and incenses, which I used for myself and shared with my loved ones. Nature is full of wonders, and I felt that with all my senses. Later, as the holidays approached, I felt a strong urge to make incense and give them to others with good intentions. I remember nights spent tying incense bundles until dawn. During one of the workshops, I met a wonderful fragrance creator, Eglė. After this encounter, I began expanding my knowledge of natural essential oils and their effects on us. Over time, my creative process began to take a new form: I started making personal perfumes, home fragrances, oil blends, and leading fragrance workshops.

I am incredibly grateful to the universe for this magical journey, which has opened doors to new creative dimensions and introduced me to so many fascinating people. The journey continues, and I’m curious to see where this path will lead me next... So, I invite you to join me on this journey, welcoming the spirit of nature into your home, experiencing natural scents, and rediscovering nature’s gifts in a new way, like a child who finds everything in this world fascinating.
